3. Emmanuel Sanders
This is more of a “we should’ve hopped on this train last year,” selection. Sanders was rumored to be available before rupturing his Achilles tendon in December of 2018 and has been linked to possible trades this year as well.
Had the Titans gotten in on the sweepstakes last winter, they would undoubtedly have more production from Sanders than they’ve gained by adding WR Adam Humphries.
Through Week 5:
Adam Humphries – 15 catches, 142 yards, 0 TDs (Cap Hit: $5,000,000)
Emmanuel Sanders – 24 catches, 307 yards, 2 TDs (Cap hit: $12,937,500)
Sanders is more expensive, and is on the final year of his contract, but has a proven track record. Had the Titans landed the veteran last season, they could’ve had him for two years, and possibly inked him to a small extension.
Can you imagine the Titans running 11 personnel (3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 RB) with Corey Davis, Emmanuel Sanders, and A.J. Brown? Not to mention in two-receiver sets, a veteran presence opposite Davis on the boundary would have been a great benefit. I don’t care how good A.J. Brown has been, the Titans seem hellbent on WR Tajae Sharpe lining up wide in those situations, anyways.
Could’ve been a thing of beauty.
