Tennessee Titans: Reasons for concern and optimism vs. Broncos
Optimism: Joe Flacco’s turnovers
This game looks like it’s going to be another battle for field position, as was the case last week against the Bills. In games like these, turnovers can be the difference.
Denver sports a turnover differential of -4, with seven total giveaways to just three takeaways. On the flip side, the Titans sport one of the best turnover differentials in the league at +6.
A quick note on Denver’s lack of takeaways: since last season, Denver is 1-8 when failing to notch a single interception in a game, which bodes well for the Titans since Mariota has yet to throw a pick this season.
Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco has been responsible for all seven of the team’s giveaways, with four picks and three fumbles lost (he’s fumbled four times in all).
While Flacco is obviously throwing picks, he’s been even worse at holding on to the football. The Titans need to generate a pass-rush and hit him with the ball in his hands in order to give themselves opportunities for huge shifts in field position and momentum.
So far this season, the Broncos have allowed 14 sacks (eighth-most) and 25 QB hits. The Titans should have their chances to hit Flacco in this game.
