2. Houston Texans (3-2)

Week 5 AFC South ranking: No. 1

Recap: The Houston Texans went into Atlanta and took care of business against the Falcons. In fact, Houston did that and then some after dropping 53 points and nearly 600 yards of total offense. Quarterback Deshaun Watson played a perfect game with 426 passing yards and five touchdowns, and wide receiver Will Fuller was the biggest beneficiary after totaling over 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Pros: When they’re on, the Texans have one of the best offenses in the NFL led by one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. In this particular game, the Texans didn’t allow a single sack.

Cons: As we mentioned, the Texans didn’t allow a single sack, but I’m not sure I’m ready to anoint this troubled group upfront fixed. The Falcons weren’t able to notch a single sack against the Titans in Week 4, either. The Texans defense didn’t play too great and nearly allowed the Falcons to come back in this one.

Outlook: While I still think the Texans will be the class of the AFC South this season after what we’ve seen through five games, an Indianapolis Colts win over the elite Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5 knocks the Texans down a spot. If Houston can go out and beat the Chiefs in Week 6, they’ll be atop the rankings once again.
