Cairo Santos

As I said during the game on Sunday, I’m sure Cairo Santos is a nice guy and I hate to pile on, but he shouldn’t be this team’s kicker next week in Denver. Until the team’s original starting kicker Ryan Succop can return from IR after Week 8, the Titans need to find another solution.

Santos missed four kicks in Week 5, one of which was blocked. Before it even got to the fourth miss, it was clear Santos just didn’t have it after he absolutely shanked his second attempt of the afternoon from 36 yards out.

Santos doesn’t have a big leg, and we saw that after he missed both of his attempts from 50 yards or more.

The second long attempt from 53 yards out was particularly puzzling because the Titans desperately needed a touchdown in that spot, but head coach Mike Vrabel decided to go for the field goal anyway.

You can definitely chalk that one up to bad decision-making from the head coach, but Vrabel actually asked Santos if he wanted to make the attempt, to which Santos replied “yes sir.”

You could’ve done us a favor and saved our head coach from himself by saying “no,” but you just had to have pride, didn’t you? Ya gotta know when to fold ’em, Cairo.
