Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been cleared just in time for the team’s Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans.
With the Buffalo Bills facing the prospect of possibly not having quarterback Josh Allen in Week 5, things were looking real good for the Tennessee Titans with Matt Barkley set to start.
However, it turns out that Allen will in fact play on Sunday, as the Bills have announced he has cleared the concussion protocol ahead of the Week 5 tilt in Nashville.
QB Josh Allen, S Dean Marlowe and FB Pat DiMarco have cleared the concussion protocol and are expected to play on Sunday vs. Tennessee.

This is obviously huge for the Bills. Allen is a superior signal-caller to Barkley in every sense of the word, and he is also tougher to game plan for with his athleticism and ability to run the football.
Regardless, as ESPN’s Turron Davenport pointed out, the Titans have been preparing for both Barkley and Allen, so don’t expect Tennessee to be caught off guard by this news. You always had to assume that Allen was going to play, despite the tricky nature of concussions.

Even though he clearly gives Buffalo a better chance to win, the second-year quarterback is not bullet proof.
Allen has thrown six of the team’s seven NFL-leading interceptions through four weeks, and that’s a troublesome stat for the Bills, who are dealing with what is perhaps the best secondary in the NFL this week.
Of course, the Titans may end up having problems of their own.
Not only do the Titans have to make sure to keep an eye on Allen, they also have to deal with a Bills defense that is as stingy a unit as there is in the NFL. The Bills are allowing just 15.8 points per game (fifth-best), and own a top-five pass defense and the No. 7 rush defense.
This one has all the makings of a low-scoring, defensive battle that will come down to which team’s defense makes the big play late in the game.
