A petty Buffalo Bills ESPN reporter threw shade at Tennessee Titans fans before the pair’s Week 5 matchup on Sunday.

Nothing warrants the phrase “step it up” more than a fan base not roaming the streets in their team’s jersey the day before a football game — or at least that’s how one Buffalo Bills ESPN reporter sees it with Tennessee Titans fans.

ESPN Bills reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques is in Nashville for the game with the Titans and was surprised that he didn’t see more Titans jerseys around.

As a result, he told Titans fans that they need to “step it up” in regard to their presence and fandom.

Is this guy serious?

For starters, he’s already making a judgement like this after an hour. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised about his lack of due diligence being that he works for ESPN.

Where have we seen that story before?

Also, did Louis-Jacques forget that it’s a Saturday? Maybe he has his days mixed up?

Are Titans fans, who are obviously from all over the city and state, expected to show up in wherever Louis-Jacques is in Nashville the day before the game and walk the streets to prove their fandom?

My suggestion to Louis-Jacques, who seems to be so interested in who’s wearing a Titans jersey on a Saturday before the game, is to worry about covering the Bills and what actually happens on Sunday. Stuff like this makes him look petty.

It’s reporters like these that make me appreciate the Titans’ beat writers even more. They are the epitome of professional on a daily basis, especially when you compare them to a reporter who says something like this.

After all, his job is to worry about the Bills and what they are doing and not what the Titans fans plans are on a Saturday. Titans fans don’t need your little pep talk, Marcel, they’re doing just fine.
