Comeback player of the Year: Delanie Walker

It was a quiet Week 4 for tight end Delanie Walker, who caught just one pass for four yards. However, Walker did reach a milestone in his career by nabbing his 500th catch against the Falcons on Sunday.

Regardless, Walker was the Titans’ best pass-catcher through the first three weeks, and his two touchdowns in Week 1 were the daggers that put the Cleveland Browns away.

Many people doubted if Walker could return at the age of 35 from a brutal ankle injury suffered in 2018, but he has done that and then some.

After four games, Walker leads the Titans in receptions (17), is third in receiving yards (162) and is tied for the most receiving touchdowns (two). Had the Titans not managed his snaps in Week 4 thanks to a knee injury, it’s conceivable that Walker could lead in yards as well.

Honorable mention: Marcus Mariota

Mariota dealt with a slew of injuries last season that no doubt hindered his performance. While we can definitely knit-pick on some things he has done wrong in 2019, there’s no question he’s playing at a higher level than last season. If not for what Walker has had to overcome, he’s the easy choice for this award.
