3. Ben Jones

The Titans signed center Ben Jones to a two-year extension on August 30th, and it’s obvious how much the organization values him. The former Georgia Bulldog has been a vital member of this squad since he originally signed with the team in 2016. Incontrovertibly, the Titans have finished as a top 10 rushing offense twice with Jones under center.

Centers are repeatedly unheralded, which in no way equates to their actual value. So let me speak on it.

Jones’ strongest attribute is as a facilitator. He makes everything easier for those around him. As he should; a good center will act as a glue, enabling the line to move as a unit. Often they will help the quarterback in identifying blitzes and change pass protections.

Above all else, I think quarterback Marcus Mariota needs someone like Jones in front of him. A center who might not be the biggest, fastest, or strongest, but someone who is dependable and has an outstanding football IQ. That’s Jones, who has never missed a game in his NFL career.
