Tennessee Titans: 3 reasons for optimism and concern vs. the Bills
By Brian Akins
Josh Allen may not play with a concussion:
You don’t want to see injuries happen to anyone, however, for Tennessee this week it gives the Titans an optimistic look ahead at their matchup against the Bills.
Buffalo’s starting quarterback Josh Allen is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game because of being in concussion protocol. Last week against the New England Patriots, Allen was running the ball trying to get a first down when he was hit by a helmet-to-helmet shot from cornerback Jonathan Jones.
If Allen is unable to play on Sunday, that leaves the starting job to sixth-year quarterback Matt Barkley from USC. Barkley saw his first bit of action this season last week against the Patriots after Allen went down in the fourth quarter. He tallied 127 yards and one interception while leading the offense.
Barkley has played in one other game for Buffalo last year where he threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-10 win over the New York Jets.
Buffalo, like Tennessee, has also seen its fair share of issues of giving up multiple sacks this season. Through four games, the Bills o-line has given up 10 sacks on the year.
If Barkley gets the start this week, Tennessee has an opportunity to take advantage of the OL and get some extra pressure on the quarterback. That could help the Titans get another win on the year and avoid another letdown after a big win on the road.
