Mike Clay’s Fantasy Football note on a potential Tennessee Titans star

Which Tennessee Titans player is a hot commodity, but needs to be treated with caution.

The Tennessee Titans just saw an outstanding passing attack for the first time in a long time, and they didn’t even really try in the second half.

I’m sure that everyone is well aware at this point, but Corey Davis had an impressive touchdown catch where he showed fantastic body control and concentration.

The other star was A.J. Brown who showed great YAC on a near 60-yard TD, only to follow it up with a TD on a fade route in the redzone that showcased his subtle route running prowess and his ability to make catches in tight spaces.

Mike Clay went through some “Fantasy Intel” for every NFL team this week, and it was the latter of those two stars that was the subject of his report:

"A.J. Brown had the second big game of his career on Sunday, but his playing time and target share suggest that this is yet another tease. Brown went for 100 yards on four targets in Week 1 before totaling 29 yards on 10 targets during Weeks 2-3.On Sunday, he posted a 3-94-2 receiving line, but managed only three targets and was on the field for 43% of the snaps. Brown ran only 13 of a possible 27 pass routes in the game. The rookie will be a hot waiver add this week (an investment that could pay off later in the season if he gets more work), but his current role (65th at WR in OFP) isn’t nearly enough to allow consistent WR3 production."

I completely agree with Clay on this.

It is safe to say that this first month has been one of the most impressive months by any Titans wide receiver, and most definitely the most impressive month by a rookie. Right now your long term outlook on Brown should be very high and you should be excited to see how he continues to develop.

However, you have to remember that the Titans have Derrick Henry, Corey Davis, Delanie Walker, and David Quessenberry (lol) who could all see goal line touches or targets.

The coaching staff is very high on Brown and they are right to feel that way. Most intelligent people can see that Brown is someone who is going to be active every game and who snaps should increase because he can win before and after the catch.

As his role in the offense picks up and with better protection in front of Marcus Mariota, he should get more targets and make more plays.

We will see what his exact role is after the bye week when the Titans have time to really sit down and make changes if they want to, but for right now he is going to get around 3 or 4 targets per game and is more of a long term addition in fantasy compared to someone who you should expect to get 8+ targets depending on the matchup.
