Marcus Mariota

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota did most of his damage in the first half, but he looked damn good doing it. He finished 18-of-27 for for 227 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 22 yards on the ground in three carries.

Four of Mariota’s incompletions were passes he threw away to avoid a sack, while one more was a clear drop by Corey Davis.

In the first two quarters, Mariota was 14-of-19 for 189 yards with the three scores. He connected with wide receiver A.J. Brown for two scores and wideout Corey Davis for one.

Mariota’s second touchdown strike to Brown was a beautiful throw on a fade to the rookie receiver, who was able to drag his toe to complete the play.

Later in the first half, Mariota read the blitz perfectly and dropped another dime, this time to Davis, who was able to turn and run past his defender to finish the scoring play.

Not only did Mariota show great accuracy, he was able to get rid of the ball quickly and was decisive with his throws. Most importantly, Mariota’s pocket presence was the best we’ve seen all season and the O-line actually gave him time to throw.

His yardage total might not have been his best all season, but his overall performance certainly was.
