The Green Bay Packers have so much to be excited about…until Matt LaFleur starts calling the plays.
A very good defense combined with one of the best QBs in the NFL and a top WR screams playoffs. However, situational play calling (specifically in the redzone) is going to get the Packers beaten in games where they should win.
I think the Packers are still figuring out exactly how to mesh LaFleur’s concepts with what Aaron Rodgers does best.
At 3-1 and a tie breaker with the Chicago Bears gives them the edge in the playoff hunt when that starts. However, I am a little bit concerned about the lack of a commitment to the run game in the right situation and how many times they are asking Rodgers to bail out the offense.
With 53 pass attempts, you are putting a lot on Rodgers and we have seen him get banged up year after year, so I hoped that this would take some of the load off of him. However, ride him while you can and then worry about it later I guess.
