Tennessee Titans vs Atlanta Falcons: 4 “X-factors” to watch
By Will Lomas
Atlanta Falcons defense: Grady Jarrett, DT
I don’t know if you noticed, but the Titans had a little bit of trouble blocking some guy wearing #93 this past week?
If you didn’t, let me fill you in. Calais Campbell had his only 3 sacks of the season against Jamil Douglas and the rest of the Titans offensive line (but mostly the guards). It was a mess of inability, confusion and lethargy that were hard to stomach if you enjoy football.
This week they get a breather as they get to go agai- oh no.
If you didn’t know, Jarrett is one of the best defensive tackles in football and hasn’t disappointed this year after getting his massive new deal.
Because the Titans coaching staff waited so long to move away from Douglas and because the front office didn’t go out and get anyone to hold down the fort for a few weeks, rookie guard Nate Davis will get his first start against one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL.
Jarrett’s day might not be a cake walk though as he will also have to contend with Jack Conklin and Ben Jones on that right side, the two clear best offensive linemen for Tennessee.
Can the Falcons scheme him into one-on-one situations without putting themselves at risk for a Derrick Henry screen? Or will they ask Jarrett to try and beat double teams for the majority of the day?
