Offensive line: F

If I could give a double “F” I would. This group has been putrid, and there’s no two ways about it.

As I’ve already explained, Mariota has held on to the ball for too long a lot of times this season, and that is undoubtedly a reason for some of the sacks allowed.

However, this offensive line is on a historically bad pace, with 17 sacks given up through three games, the most a single quarterback has taken in that span of games since 2002. Adding to that, Mariota has been hit 25 times, which makes it amazing he’s not injured yet.

Jamil Douglas has been a disaster, and thankfully the Titans are working overtime trying to get Nate Davis ready. Rodger Saffold has been a bust so far after the Titans paid him well this offseason, as the veteran guard has allowed the same amount of sacks in three games as he allowed all of last season.

Jack Conklin has been OK, and certainly an improvement from 2018, but Pro Football Focus did credit him with three of the nine sacks allowed in Week 3. Dennis Kelly has performed admirably, but he’s no Taylor Lewan on the left side.

OK, now for some good news: through three games, PFF has graded Ben Jones as the No. 3 center in the NFL in 2019. It looks like the extension the Titans gave him prior to the season has paid off thus far.
