4. Tennessee Titans (1-2)

Week 3 ranking: No. 3

In three weeks, the Tennessee Titans have gone from No. 1 to No. 4 in the AFC South power rankings. It was nice while it lasted, but this group simply doesn’t deserve to be any better than fourth with how it has played the last two games.

After a Week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, we assumed that, at bare bones minimum, the Titans would prove to be better than the Jacksonville Jaguars and earn a win in Week 3. Instead, the Jags dominated the Titans by absolutely shutting down the offense, via nine sacks of Marcus Mariota.

There are so many places to lay blame on the Titans’ offensive ineptitude. The play-calling is bad, the offensive line is acting like a sieve, and Mariota is either holding on to the ball for too long, or he’s missing open receivers. Hell, even the team’s pass-catchers are dropping balls.

If you’re going to point to a positive, it’s that the Titans’ defense is still playing well. However, great defensive performances don’t mean anything if the offense can’t score. Tennessee will hope to get that sorted out in a Week 4 road game against the Atlanta Falcons, or else this 2019 campaign could get off to a 1-3 start for head coach Mike Vrabel’s squad.
