There really wasn’t any other option right?

Right now Delanie Walker is on pace for 86 catches for 850 yards and 11 TDs. Some people will argue that those projections are inflated after a big Week 1 win against the Browns, but there is a different side to that argument too.

What if I told you that Walker was being used as either a run or pass blocker on 21% of his snaps right now? If Walker is asked to help less as a blocker and becomes more of an option in the play action game like he was in Week 1, those numbers could be about right or a little bit low.

At the end of the day I know that everyone wants to see the offense put up big yardage through the air and not run through the tight end, but with better protection and with Arthur Smith calling plays having three different targets hit over 800 yards while the team passes for around 4,000 yards is about as explosive as you are going to get.

With A.J. Brown on pace for that number already and Corey Davis set to get more work (hopefully) that seems attainable.

While many people slept on Walker this year, he still constantly impact the game when he is on the field and the hope is that the offensive line is much improved by the midway point of the year (once Lewan and Davis are hopefully rust-free) and that the back half of the season will see him continue to thrive.

Deep passes are fun, Derrick Henry long touchdowns are great, but the one constant with the Titans is that Delanie Walker is and should be, a big part of the offense.
