Tennessee Titans would you rather: More Derrick Henry or more deep shots?

The argument for more deep shots.

In the NFL, the only way to scare a defense is by showing them that no matter what they try to take away, you have an answer for it.

If the defense is going to try to take Mariota’s mobility out of the game AND try to limit his chances to connect with Delanie Walker, then they are going to have to commit multiple people to the middle of the field.

The only way to prevent this from happening is to attack the edges of the defense with a running game, or to take deep shots that force them to give help on the back end.

Marcus Mariota has done this before and it worked well against the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets, even when there were misses.

With Corey Davis and A.J. Brown, there is no reason that the Titans can’t take shot plays. They have the talent to win those matchups and Marcus Mariota can make those throws with the right protection. Don’t believe me, last week he threw a perfect pass to Tajae Sharpe for a 50-yard gain and he did it with Jalen Ramsey in coverage.

If you aren’t afraid of Mariota getting hurt or committing a turnover, let it rip and if you are successful then you will open up the field for other players. If not, then nothing has changed because you are still just going against a team that is trying to take those things away.
