The civil war over Marcus Mariota

Tennessee Titans fans are engaged in a civil war at the moment over Marcus Mariota.

On one side, you have those fans who support Mariota through thick and thin, along with those who have their doubts but still believe he can become the franchise quarterback the Titans need him to be.

On the other side, you have fans who have simply given up on him and are tired of waiting for the 2016 Mariota to re-appear and take this franchise to the next level. While you hate to see fans give up on their quarterback, this group has shown plenty of patience over the years to have gotten to this point.

Regardless of what side you’re on, there is a pretty huge divide among Titans fans, and Mariota’s lackluster showing in Week 2 didn’t help any. Sure, there were some things that occurred that were Mariota’s fault, but there were also other issues that were out of his control.

If he can bounce back this week, the debate about his status as a starter will quiet down for now. If he doesn’t, the war will rage on between the Mariota supporters and the Mariota detractors; although it must be said that Mariota could get a pass here because of how well the Jags defense played against Deshaun Watson and the Texans in Week 2.

Regardless, the key to ending this never-ending battle between Titans fans over Mariota comes down to one thing: consistency.
