RG Jamil Douglas vs Nate Davis or Kevin Pamphile

I will say this, Jamil Douglas has been better than I thought he would be. As a run blocker there are times where he gets to the second level or handles his business.

However, there are just so many times where it looks like he is doing the wrong thing or just getting beaten badly.

I have changed my mind on whether or not he should be on the roster or not, but as a starter I think he is the biggest liability on the offensive line even with a backup right tackle starting at left tackle.

Nate Davis seems to be healthy know and he is no longer on any injury reports. If he is fully healthy then I would absolutely put him through his paces next week going against guys fighting for their jobs in Brent Urban, Austin Johnson and Matt Dickerson.

Make him work the whiteboard and then go on the field and put it into practice. If he does what he is supposed to and steps up then great, it isn’t like he is going to miss more assignments than Douglas anyway right?

If he can’t go, hey you tried and can try again in Week 11 but then your focus can shift more towards Kevin Pamphile if he is healthy or potentially signing a free agent like Corey Levin.

Either way, you could take a big step forward on improving the right side of the line and are just another week away from Taylor Lewan coming back. Think about going into Week 5 with:

LT: Taylor Lewan: Pro Bowl stud

LG: Rodger Saffold: good run blocks, needs to improve pass pro

C: Ben Jones: quietly having a very solid season

RG: Nate Davis: promising power house

RT: Jack Conklin: back to playing very well

Swing OT: Dennis Kelly

I’m here for that.
