Week 2 ranking: 2nd

The Texans reign supreme in this week’s AFC South power rankings after edging out the Jaguars in Week 2, following up a disappointing defeat to the New Orleans Saints in the closing seconds of Week 1.

Houston’s offense wasn’t able to do much against a tough Jaguars defense on Sunday, and it seemed like another game would slip away after a late Jags touchdown put Jacksonville in position to steal the game.

However, thanks to a poor decision to go for two that led to Fournette getting stuffed at the goal line, the Texans were able to overcome their poor offensive showing and grab their first win of the season. Sure, the win was no doubt aided by Marrone’s bad call, but the Texans still had to make the stop, and did just that.

Better days will come for this dynamic Texans offense, although protecting Deshaun Watson still remains a big concern, with Houston’s O-line allowing 10 sacks in two games. The Texans travel to the west coast in Week 3 to face a Los Angeles Chargers team that has played below expectations thus far.
