So what did that tell us?

Well, for me it showed me sort of exactly why teams get hesitant to move up for quarterbacks.

Of the 16 quarterbacks who we have seen enough data on to make a call, there have been 4 active players who have seemingly earned that “top QB” status:

-Patrick Mahomes

-Carson Wentz

-Matt Ryan

-Take your pick of either Jared Goff of Cam Newton, one thrived by system and one burned out quick.

With just 25% being factors on the team that drafted them, that has to be concerning to teams like the Tennessee Titans who are actively winning games and having above average seasons in the NFL at a consistent rate.

It should also be noted that of those five potential names, three went to offensive coaches in Wentz, Mahomes and Goff who had a huge impact on their development. Meanwhile, two went to defensive coaches and their peaks have been more of a year where everything went right instead of a year where they only slightly increased their production.

Those numbers can’t be too encouraging if you are a GM or a HC thinking about the roster you have built and your own future job security.
