28. Washington Redskins (0-2)
Even in what was a one-dimensional game for the Washington Redskins offense (47 rushing yards), Case Keenum and Co. still had a chance to win this game after three quarters. Unfortunately for Washington, the defense wasn’t able to keep the Cowboys in check in the fourth.
Down 21-14 after three, Washington couldn’t get anything going until late in fourth quarter. In the meantime, the Cowboys tacked on 10 more points with a field goal and a two-yard touchdown run by Ezekiel Elliot that iced the game.
It’s hard enough to beat a defense as talented as Dallas’, but that task becomes even harder when you can only move the football through the air. Through two games, the Redskins have totaled a depressing 75 yards on the ground.
Unfortunately for Washington, it gets an equally tough challenge at home next week against a stingy Bears defense that is tough against the run. The Redskins will need more from their ground game if they want to change their fortunes for the rest of 2019, which at the moment are not looking good.
