NFL power rankings Week 3: Titans fall back to earth after loss to Colts
6. Green Bay Packers (2-0)
The Green Bay Packers looked like they were on their way to a blowout victory in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings, but things ended up being a lot closer than that. Instead of the offense putting the game away, it was the defense that once again came up big for the Pack.
After jumping out to a 21-7 lead in the second quarter, Aaron Rodgers and Co. went cold the rest of the way and didn’t score a single point. Aaron Jones was the catalyst for much of the team’s yardage in the second half, but it still didn’t result in any points.
The Packers would allow the Vikings to get to within five, but Green Bay’s defense held it right there. Kirk Cousins and the Vikings offense would fail to score any points on the team’s last five drives of the game, and the Packers escaped with a win that was nearly squandered away.
Green Bay’s offense has not looked good this season outside of a good first half against the Vikings on Sunday, and an animated sideline interaction Rodgers and his head coach, Matt LaFleur might spell issues in Green Bay. Still, Rodgers and the Pack are 2-0, have an outstanding defense, and now get a juicy home game against the Denver Broncos in Week 3.
