17. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)
Don’t look now, but the San Francisco 49ers are 2-0 and have scored 72 points in two games, albeit against two lackluster defenses in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Cincinnati Bengals. Regardless, the Niners are taking care of business and scoring at will against teams they should do it against.
The Niners dominated the Bengals from the jump in Week 2, and ended up with 41 points in a game that was never really close. Jimmy G connected on two touchdown strikes of 38 yards or more, and finished with 297 yards and three touchdowns to one pick.
Even without their top two running backs, the Niners totaled 259 yards on the ground, and their defense sacked Andy Dalton four times and made it impossible for him to get anything going for much of the game. It was a solid all-around effort for this promising Niners team.
San Fran will look to take its momentum and a 2-0 start back home against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3. Pittsburgh lost Ben Roethlisberger to an elbow injury in their Week 2 loss, thus it isn’t clear if the Steelers QB will even play. That would be a big lift for the Niners.
