NFL power rankings Week 3: Titans fall back to earth after loss to Colts
21. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-2)
The Pittsburgh Steelers might be in big trouble. Not only did they lose their second game to start the season, but Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with an elbow injury that forced him out of the game with the Seattle Seahawks early, and leaves his status up in the air for Week 3.
In his stead, the Steelers deployed Mason Rudolph, who completed 12-of-19 passes for 112 yards, with one touchdown and one pick. In all, the Steelers weren’t able to get much going offensively and totaled just 261 total yards.
Even with a poor offensive effort, the Steelers still found themselves down two late in the fourth quarter, but Pittsburgh was unable to come up with a stop to get the ball back for an opportunity to take the lead.
We’ll see what happens with Big Ben’s elbow from now until next week. Until then, the job is Rudolph’s, and judging from his performance in Week 2, the Steelers don’t look to be any better off with him, no matter how bad Roethlisberger has been thus far. Pittsburgh draws the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3.
