Tennessee Titans should call the Miami Dolphins about these potential trades

Kalen Ballage, RB

I have said before that the Tennessee Titans probably need to be thinking about upgrading their backup running back position.

Think about when this offense has been the best. The two years that immediately come to mind are the DeMarco Murray/rookie Derrick Henry year, and the “Smash and Dash” offenses with Chris Johnson and LenDale White.

With 2018 prospects being up for grabs, the Titans could take a swing on a guy who averages more than 5 YPC and who showed he could catch the ball last year and throughout college.

As a running back prospect in general, evaluators should be high on what Ballage has shown so far. However, his value goes beyond what he can do behind the QB.

One thing that has been repeated over and over (and for good reason) is that if the team opts to cut Dion Lewis to avoid a big cap hit in 2020, the Tennessee Titans will have no running back under contract in 2020.

That is a dangerous place to be, but bringing in Ballage gives you a guy on the books through the 2021 season.

Even if he never turns into anything great on offense, he is still a guy with a big frame and athleticism that has done good work in a backup role at running back and who has played special teams throughout his career.

To me this is an high floor, decent ceiling type trade.
