After a close win against the Houston Texans, the Saints move down slightly but not too much.
Honestly, the Saints seemed to think that they only had to play the second half but when they started playing they were cutting through the Texans defense like a hot knife through butter.
Before the defense went full “prevent” mode in the last drive, they had held Deshaun Watson to 18-28 for 193 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. On top of that, they had 11 QB hits and 6 sacks on Watson including 2 sacks clearly coming against Laremy Tunsil.
Offensively, Drew Brees finished the game with 370 yards, 2 TDs and an interception, but the real standout was Alvin Kamara who (combining receptions and rushes) had 20 touches for 169 yards and looked unstoppable whenever the Saints went that way.
Despite the refs allowing the Texans to re-kick a missed extra point that would have forced overtime if it was missed, the Saints never lost their cool and quickly drove down the field to nail a near 60-yard field goal for the win.
