Is this actually the best case scenario for the Tennessee Titans?

I don’t want to overrate a rookie’s potential to step up from a lower tier school and play against NFL players without a preseason, but there is a chance that Nate Davis could be the Titans current best case scenario at right guard.

In all of the clips I have seen, it looks like Nate Davis has fixed his stance and seems comfortable now that he is back at his more natural position at guard as opposed to tackle where he played some in college.

It is easy to forget, but Nate Davis actually seemed like the Titans first choice to be the starter at RG after two weeks of training camp. Take it with a grain of salt, but he was the first right guard in that position battle to take snaps with the starters two days in a row.

There is a good chance with the level of play that we saw from the other guys at right guard, that Davis would have been as good or better. If everything was even then Davis would have gotten the job so that he could develop and because he is on a long, cheap contract.

This could end up with Kelly-Saffold-Jones-Davis-Conklin as the starters and with Kevin Pamphile moving back to his natural backup OT/G role if everything goes well. As far as I am concerned, that is the best lineup that you can make with the offensive linemen currently on the roster.

Don’t forget that Davis was seen as a starter by many draft analysts and an early starter in scheme that allowed him to use his athleticism to win matchups. The Titans offense should do that and after dominating his level of competition, shining in the Senior Bowl, nailing the predraft process, and showing he is coachable at the NFL level, the Titans may have stumbled into the right combination with an excuse to start the guard with no NFL experience yet.
