With Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck retiring, the AFC South is suddenly wide open. The Tennessee Titans have the best shot at the divisional title they’ve had in years. In 2017, Colts QB Jacoby Brissett piloted the team to a record of 4-12, and the Titans capitalized, beating them twice. That was Brissett’s first year in Indy, and former head coach Chuck Pagano’s last.
Under current Head Coach Frank Reich’s regime, Brissett has an opportunity to flourish. He is one of the better backups in the league and will be a serviceable placeholder for whoever the Colts end up drafting to replace Luck. The rest of the team isn’t flashy, but solid and well-coached. They retain the most starters in the league entering 2019.
The Colts have had the Titans’ number for too long, and I’m not comfortable giving the Titans the sweep this year—even with Brissett under center.
Prediction: Season split
The Titans win in week two with Luck’s departure weighing heavily on the minds of Colts’ players, but fall to a rallying Indianapolis squad at Lucas Oil Stadium in week thirteen.
Tennessee Titans win-loss counter: 1-2
