As I begin to write this piece on the Texans, my phone buzzes in my pocket. And again. And then once more. I look down to see the news that edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney has been traded to the Seattle Seahawks. I’m floored. The Texans have now lost two nationally recognized players in Clowney, and running back Lamar Miller to a torn ACL.
I anticipated a tackle or running back to be involved in the trade for Clowney, but it seems the front office—without a real general manager—was hoodwinked by the Seahawks.
As it pertains to the Titans, the Texans are the reigning AFC South champions, but the foundation in Houston is eroding. Their offensive line is awful, minus the addition of left tackle Laremy Tunsil in a behemoth of a trade on Saturday.
Their initial plan to address the tackle position was foiled in the draft when the Philadelphia Eagles traded up for offensive tackle Andre Dillard. Subsequently, the Texans drafted Alabama State’s Tytus Howard, but it was known the Texans fancied Dillard.
Prediction: Season split
In Week 15, The Titans are hot after a win in Oakland and get the “W” at Nissan Stadium. On the road in Houston, however, the Titans are burned by WR Will Fuller, and lose their last game of the season.
Tennessee Titans win-loss counter: 10-5
