Diving in with a full head of steam, here’s a full breakdown of the Tennessee Titans’ 2019 opponents.

Success for the 2019 Tennessee Titans won’t come easy. The “good to great” mantra is all well and good, but the road will be grueling. The Titans have the ninth-toughest strength of schedule, per CBS Sports, with home games against powerhouses like the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.

Per NFL.com, the construction of an NFL schedule is as follows:

  • Six games against divisional opponents—two games per team, one at home and one on the road.
  • Four games against teams from a division within its conference—two games at home and two on the road.
  • Four games against teams from a division in the other conference—two games at home and two on the road.
  • Two games against teams from the two remaining divisions in its own conference—one game at home and one on the road. Matchups are based on division ranking from the previous season.

Outside of the six games in which they face divisional opponents in the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans, the Titans must also play two of the hardest divisions in football.

The NFC South is stacked from top to bottom. The Saints lead the pack, but don’t forget the Atlanta Falcons who, despite their Super Bowl LI implosion, will be in the mix.

Then there’s the AFC West, a division that will produce two Lombardi trophy favorites in 2019— the aforementioned Chiefs, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Thanks to the NFL, the Titans open on the road at the red-hot Cleveland Browns. An organization chock full of momentum and expectation.

Enough already, let’s get to it.
