4. Jacksonville Jaguars
A lot of experts automatically assume the Jaguars are better than the Indianapolis Colts now that quarterback Andrew Luck has retired, but I’m not so sure about that. Until Jacksonville can prove it has matured and that personalities won’t get the best of this team, I have them on the bottom of the AFC South this season.
The good news for the Jags is that their defense still has a lot of personnel from that special 2017 group, and the quarterback position is stabilized with the signing of quarterback Nick Foles and the departure of former starter, quarterback Blake Bortles.
Aside from that, the Jags still don’t have many weapons when it comes to pass-catchers, and running back Leonard Fournette is a question mark with his injury history and overall shoddy behavior. The team’s offensive line is nothing to write home about, either.
Having a solid defense is great, but this team will struggle to score points, and we’ll all quickly discover that Foles was more a product of his former team’s offense – the Philadelphia Eagles – rather than the reason behind its success.
One thing’s for certain: Foles has a lot less talent at his disposal in Jacksonville, and that will show when he fails to live up to the enormous contract he received during the offseason.
