Cut: Joshua Kalu, DB/ST

This is just general house cleaning, but I think Kalu is a player that you can keep on a shortlist of guys you want to bring in but not necessarily someone that has to be on the roster.

Without Kalu the Titans would have 9 defensive backs and all of them have the chance to be active on gameday because of their potential on special teams.

That means that Kalu is probably going to be a scratch each week and even if there is an injury or something, the player stepping in for the injured guy would still be playing special teams because your status as a starter doesn’t preclude you from special teams duties with Mike Vrabel.

The Tennessee Titans aren’t quite talented enough that they can keep multiple players on the roster for punt/kick coverage only. They need guys who can do more than that and while I do like Kalu, I feel the same way about him that I feel about Kenneth Durden.

Both are really solid special teams players and can contribute on defense, but with a stacked roster in front of them they aren’t likely to play much or at all.
