Sign: John Kelly, RB

Right now Kelly is on the L.A. Rams practice squad which is the same thing as being a free agent except you are getting in paid and staying in good football shape.

Where Dawkins didn’t have the special teams experience to keep him on the roster, Kelly does and he played in every special teams unit other than field goal block/attempt this preseason.

Now that you know he can be active on gameday, you can take a look at what he would offer the Titans. It doesn’t take long to see that he is almost exactly what the Tennessee Titans need in their backfield right now.

Kelly is a tough runner who has spent a year and two offseasons in the Sean McVay ZBS scheme. He can come in and be up to speed on the playbook quickly, giving him more time to work on chemistry with the OL instead of worrying about not knowing his landmarks.

Speaking of chemistry, he could have a vocal supporter in the locker room in Rodger Saffold who played with him for all of 2018.

If the Titans don’t want to pay Dion Lewis a lot of money in 2020, then they don’t have any RBs under contract after this year. Signing Kelly to a deal with an eye on extending him for cheap down the road would be a savvy move.
