3 reasons why Derrick Henry fantasy football hype is real
Improved offensive line
The Titans made some moves this offseason to strengthen their offensive line after the interior simply didn’t get it done last season. Even with lackluster offensive line play, the Titans finished with the No. 7 rushing attack in 2018.
The signing of left guard Rodger Saffold, along with the selection of right guard Nate Davis in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, means the Titans should be better upfront. Pro Football Focus agrees, as the Titans O-line was ranked as the No. 4 unit by PFF going into 2019.
There are some caveats to this, however.
Left tackle Taylor Lewan will miss the first four games with a PED suspension, but in his place the Titans have the No. 18 tackle from 2018 in Dennis Kelly, per PFF.
The rookie Davis likely won’t start the season as the team’s starter at right guard after he missed significant practice time due to injury. Davis is healthy now and will eventually assume the starting gig at some point. The Charlotte product’s specialty is in the run game.
When you add in former first-round pick Jack Conklin, who is healthy and looking like his old dominant self during the preseason, the Titans have quite the impressive group upfront to pave the way for Henry.
