Quarterbacks (2): Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill

Marcus Mariota is obviously a lock and Ryan Tannehill is too. The most important thing to talk about is that Logan Woodside isn’t on this list.

I don’t dislike Woodside and over the last three or more years I think he would have been the Tennessee Titans best backup. However, the Titans made a move to go get a near starter level backup in Tannehill in the offseason so that moves him down to QB3.

The problem is, there is no reason to keep three quarterbacks on a roster unless there are some very extreme circumstances. Maybe the Titans are even less likely to keep an extra man on the roster because when in doubt they can just go to the wildcat look and let Derrick Henry take snaps.

If Woodside looked like Kyle Sloter, then sure go ahead and keep on the roster for a few weeks until you can find a trade. However, unless the Titans are expecting to trade either Tannehill or Woodside soon, they need to use that spot for someone who could be active on gameday.
