Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson says he expects outside linebacker Harold Landry to be ready for the regular season opener.

Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Harold Landry is expected to be ready for the regular season opener on September 8th against the Cleveland Browns, according to general manager Jon Robinson.

Paul Kuharsky shared Robinson’s comments, which he made during an in-game interview on the WKRN broadcast of the Titans’ fourth preseason game.

Landry didn’t play in a single preseason game for the Titans and missed multiple practices after the team’s second exhibition contest. Landry has since returned to limited practice, but questions have remained about his status for Week 1.

With Robinson’s comments, it appears fears about Landry’s status can be put to bed for now and we can expect the Boston College product to be ready for the regular season opener.

That’s huge for Tennessee, as the Titans hope Landry can be the shot in the arm the defense needs in order to improve a pass-rush that finished tied for 16th in the NFL last season with 39 sacks.

Landry totaled 4.5 sacks in total during his rookie season, however he did post two of those sacks in the three starts he made near the end of the campaign. Landry also had six QB hits in that span.

After the retirements of Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo, the Titans will have two new starters on each edge. Along with Landry, Cameron Wake will also be a replacement on the edge.

Landry and Wake totaled 10.5 sacks combined in 2018, which is eight more than the two sacks between Morgan and Orakpo last season.

Sharif Finch, who had 1.5 sacks of his own, will also get significant playing time when Wake isn’t on the field. The Temple product was a UDFA after not being selected in the 2018 NFL Draft and has been very impressive during the preseason.
