There is some good news

There are a few bits of good news to speak of in all this if you’ve already drafted Humphries.

For starters, he already has good chemistry with Mariota. The pair of Titans offensive players spent time during the offseason working together away from the team, and Humphries even made a trip to Mariota’s home in Oregon right before training camp.

It was clear right away the extra time together paid off, as Mariota targeted Humphries on six of his eight pass attempts in the first preseason game, connecting on four. In fact, all four of Mariota’s completions in that game went to Humphries.

Humphries is also a perfect fit for a Titans offense that will undoubtedly take its shots down the field, but will do most of its damage in the short to intermediate range.

This is where Humphries excels, as Pro Football Focus graded him out as one of the best receivers in the NFL last season in pass attempts of one to nine yards.

Listen, there’s no doubt that Humphries will be a huge asset to the Titans and that he’s a perfect fit for their offense. However, if you’re hoping he’ll match or better his 2018 numbers, you might be disappointed.
