Players to watch: Part 2

Logan Woodside

The Titans’ third-string quarterback has gotten plenty of reps this preseason and has turned them into 30-of-48 passing, for 327 yards and two touchdowns to no interceptions.

The idea of keeping a third quarterback might seem like a waste of a roster spot in most situations, however the Titans are in a peculiar spot this season with their first two signal-callers.

Mariota is in the final year of his rookie contract and in a “prove it” year, while Tannehill is only signed for the 2019 season. Not to mention, both quarterbacks have an extensive injury history that has to be considered in all this.

The Titans might want to hang on to Woodside, who has played well during the preseason, as an extra insurance policy for not just this season, but for next also. Woodside will play the majority of the preseason finale and another strong showing could force the Titans to keep him.

Derrick Henry and Harold Landry

Of course, when talking about Henry and Landry, there’s a big “if” involved.

We’re not even sure both will play, but it is possible given that both have missed all of the Titans’ preseason games. Vrabel and the coaching staff might want to get these two some snaps just as a quick tune-up for the start of the season.

And by quick, we mean light speed quick. Get ’em in for a few snaps, and get ’em out, because, of course, the most important thing is that both are healthy for Week 1. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t let them sniff that field on Thursday night.
