5. The Tennessee Titans keep two quarterbacks and don’t get any draft pick for it

There is a strange idea that is floating around right now that the Tennessee Titans should keep three QBs so that they can keep Logan Woodside on the roster.

I guess my question is: why?

On paper, Woodside does look like a decent option at quarterback. With a 61.7 completion percentage and with 2 TDs and 0 INTs, that looks like a solid backup.

However, guys like Chad Kelly, Mike Glennon, Brett Hundley, and Cooper Rush are all posting numbers like that. I mean, someone named Tim Boyle for Green Bay has 5 TDs and 0 INTs and on just four more throws than Woodside.

I’m not saying Woodside is bad or that he can never be a backup QB in the NFL, but he just hasn’t shown anything to make you say “wow” this preseason.

I should say, I understand that the Titans don’t have a QB on the books for 2020 right now and that keeping him would give them that guy, but why does that matter at all?

If Woodside is getting reps for your team on purpose when you have a whole offseason to produce a better backup, then your team is in trouble. Go out and find another backup QB (or re-sign Woodside) after the season, but don’t worry about which third string QB you have on your roster in 2020 right now.
