Tennessee Titans rookie defensive back Amani Hooker made a nice diving interception against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Preseason Week 3 on Sunday night.

Amani Hooker recorded his first interception of the preseason on Sunday night with a diving catch on an errant throw by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Mason Rudolph.

The play happened in the second quarter with the Titans trailing 15-3.

Rudolph overthrew his intended receiver by a lot, and Hooker was there to make the play. It wasn’t as easy as that, though. Hooker had to lay out in order to make the catch.

Hooker would slide out of bounds on the slick field, unable to get a return off the play. It was a standout highlight in what was a depressing first half overall for the Titans.

Hooker was active early on in the game. The Iowa product had recorded three total tackles (two solo) and the interception in just the first half alone.

The Titans selected Hooker in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and have been using him at safety during the preseason. He does have some versatility with his ability to play slot corner as well.

Hooker earned the highest coverage grade in the FBS in the slot last season, recording an overall mark of 88.5, according to Pro Football Focus.

Despite that, the Titans have him listed as a safety on the team’s unofficial depth chart. We’d assume he’ll get time in both spots during the season.

Hooker has been having a solid preseason thus far for the Titans. He recorded four tackles (all solo) in his preseason debut, and followed that up with one solo tackle and a pass defended in his second preseason game.

Hooker played three years at Iowa, totaling 125 total tackles (80 solo and 3.5 for loss), with one sack, six picks and nine pass defended.
