Why Marcus Mariota’s fantasy football outlook is better than you think

4. Stacked Boxes

As we mentioned earlier, the Titans will be sporting a run-first offense this season. Granted, that isn’t great news if you’re hoping for passing production from Marcus Mariota, but that does also mean he’ll be throwing against more stacked boxes than most quarterbacks.

Running back Derrick Henry exploded during the last four weeks of 2018 and the Titans should look to lean on him more on the ground in 2019.

Opposing defenses know just how explosive Henry can be, thus it’s likely he’ll be seeing a ton of stacked boxes.

If that’s the case, Mariota will have more room to work with down the field and receivers will be working against more one-on-one coverage. This will be the case until Mariota can establish himself as a QB who can take advantage of such scenarios.

The Titans will be spreading things out a lot more, and as long as this offensive line performs as well as it looks like it can on paper, Mariota will have a lot of opportunities to find his stellar group of receivers open.
