One concern for the Oregon product in fantasy is that he’s in a run-first offense and may not put up gaudy numbers in the passing game. However, Mariota is an elite runner at his position and can make up for lost ground if he doesn’t throw for a ton of yards or touchdowns week to week.

Mariota totaled a career-high with 357 rushing yards in 2018, good enough for eighth among quarterbacks. It’s important to note that Mariota put up those numbers with two missed games and multiple early exits.

He totaled six or more rushing attempts in four contests in which he played, and two of those four games saw him rack up double digit carries. Mariota also rushed for 32 yards or more in five times, to go along with two touchdowns on the ground.

While that might not seem like a lot, any amount of rushing yards tacked onto a quarterback’s passing stats can make a significant difference in fantasy production. Not to mention, because of what we’re going to talk about next, Mariota might have more space to run than ever before.
