Jadeveon Clowney, Houston Texans

Career stats (62 games): 29 sacks, 64 TFLs

There are so many reasons why this should happen, but people can’t seem to get past the fact that the Titans and Texans are in the same division.

I completely understand that no one wants to help someone they have to face twice a year, but here is another way to look at this.

Bill O’Brien and Jadeveon Clowney are at odds and because B.O.B doesn’t think Clowney is worth the contract he would have to pay him, he is going to move on from him. This is probably why the GM in Houston got fired, along with the possible collusion between B.O.B and Nick Casserio that almost got the Texans in big trouble.

Look at this quote from a wonderful Rivers McCown article to understand just how this entire dynamic has devolved to where it is:

"That general manager would probably understand that Clowney has more value to the franchise than O’Brien does. And that’s exactly why there is no general manager."

So with those heads butting, this is an excerpt from my article on why and how the Titans could trade for Clowney”

"This may be the move that is best for all parties because Clowney gets to go to a team that will know how to use him best and the Titans get an EDGE opposite Harold Landry. The Titans have speed off the EDGE, but what they don’t really have is an athletic, power rusher who can be disruptive consistently opposite Landry. While I don’t think Clowney is an elite EDGE, I think he is a perfect fit for this defense and the Titans get to fill their biggest need on defense with a 26 year old talent. Even if you have to give him a big contract, you know exactly what you are going to get and it isn’t like you have to sign him until he is 34 or anything."

The Titans would be lucky to land Clowney because he would be an ideal fit opposite Landry. He could be the Bradley Chubb to Landry’s Von Miller (if we consider play style and body types) and give the Titans an exponentially better front line.

Mike Vrabel has spent considerable time with him, and if he is willing to roll the dice based on that time together then Titans fans should obviously support that decision.
