A.J. Brown

After missing a ton of time with a leg injury, Brown returned to practice last week and made his preseason debut against the New England Patriots. Brown failed to record a catch, but did draw a pass interference, showing good awareness to change his route to adjust to the play.

Brown was immediately thrust into the first-team offense in Preseason Week 2, so it seems like he’s got a good handle on the No. 3 receiver role behind Corey Davis and Adam Humphries.

Still, we’d like to see Brown make a play or two in what could be his final preseason appearance on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It could be a big boost for the rookie’s confidence to bring a few in prior to Week 1.

Neither Tajae Sharpe nor Taywan Taylor have done much to deserve to be above Brown on the depth chart even after his extended absence, and his role on this team could be guaranteed already because of the tremendous upside he possesses.

But the rookie showing up in some capacity during the third preseason game — and coming out of it healthy — will go a long way towards helping him secure his No. 3 spot.
