FTW says Mike Vrabel is on the hot seat

Saying that a second-year head coach, who went 9-7 in his first season, is on the hot seat is ridiculous to say the least. Except if you’re USA Today’s, For the Win.

Writer Steven Ruiz listed Tennessee Titans head coach, Mike Vrabel, as one of six coaches who are on the hot seat in 2019. Here’s the write-up.

"The 2019 season could be the last in what’s been a schizophrenic era in Titans football, which started with the drafting of Marcus Mariota in 2015. Mariota’s time in Tennessee is likely coming to an end. It certainly will come to an end if he’s unable to hold onto his starting job for a full 16-game season. If the Titans have to start over at quarterback, and Tennessee underwhelms once again under Vrabel, it’s easy to see ownership wanting to start fresh with an offensive-minded coach who will groom the next QB of the future."

Absurd. There hasn’t been even an inkling to the idea that Vrabel is in trouble, yet Ruiz is going with this awful take. This is just another case of an uninformed writer trying his hand at writing about the Titans.

The truth is: Vrabel is absolutely perfect for this team and is not in trouble at all.

He’s got the right personality and approach to handle being an NFL head coach, and the fans absolutely love him. To give up on a coach like Vrabel after two seasons would be dumb.

Not to mention, the Titans would have been a playoff team in 2019 if not for injuries, namely to quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Even with Mariota’s health issues, the Titans faced a do-or-die Week 17 game against the Indianapolis Colts for a playoff spot, only to lose with Blaine Gabbert behind center.

Not that this silly take even warranted an explanation, but it had to be addressed nonetheless.
