Tennessee Titans offensive snap counts

Offensive Notes

Mariota and Tannehill saw a combined 41 snaps on Saturday night, with Mariota (18 snaps) playing the first quarter (three series) and Tannehill (23 snaps) playing almost all of the second.

Mariota (6-9, 63 YDS, 1 TD) looked better than Tannehill(7-11, 84 YDS, 1 TD), but both were sharp overall. Mariota will likely get more reps in the third preseason game.

The Titans’ starting offensive line, which consisted of left tackle Dennis Kelly, left guard Rodger Saffold, center Ben Jones, right guard Kevin Pamphile and right tackle Jack Conklin, saw 18 snaps, with Pamphile’s 15 snaps being the only exception. It looks like this will be the starting O-line Week 1, despite guard Jamil Douglas seeing three snaps with the first team on Saturday.

No. 1 wideout, Corey Davis, made his preseason debut and saw 17 snaps. He caught one ball on two targets for 20 yards.

Rookie receiver and second-round pick, A.J. Brown, was involved on 15 snaps and got time with the first-team offense. He failed to record a catch, but did draw a pass interference penalty that gave the Titans 27 yards on the drive in which Mariota got his team into the end zone.

Wide receiver Taywan Taylor saw the third-most snaps in the contest. This is somewhat surprising considering he looks to be a near lock to make the roster. What’s troublesome for Taylor is that he may have fallen behind in the receiving pecking order, as fellow wideout, Darius Jennings, had his night finish before Taylor, and saw just 18 snaps to Taylor’s 35.

Running back Jeremy McNichols led all players at his position with 34 snaps, and found his way into the end zone on a 15-yard catch and run. McNichols almost broke off a big TD run on a nice cutback earlier in the game, however it was called back due to a holding penalty.

If fellow back David Fluellen remains injured or the Titans decide to carry a fourth back, McNichols is the favorite in either situation.
