Tennessee Titans training camp notes from Day 12.

The Tennessee Titans had another Sunday morning training camp practice and like nearly every other practice so far there were some big notes in terms of line up changes, performances and a return.

Let’s get into it now.

Return of the Mack (but you know, A.J. Brown)

Finally, Tennessee Titans fans got to see A.J. Brown return to practice even if it was on a limited basis.

Fellow Titans expert Michael Moraitis phrased the impact of a potential A.J. Brown return like this:

"This is great news for Brown and the Titans. Any rookie who misses a significant amount of time in practice before the start of the season risks losing out in positional battles with their teammates. While we’d assume Brown is still the favorite for the No. 3 receiver role behind wideouts Corey Davis and Adam Humphries, there was a chance that his missing more time could result in either Tajae Sharpe or Taywan Taylor taking that spot, thus burying Brown on the depth chart. As long as he can show he’s back and healthy, and not make any huge mistakes the rest of the way, Brown should have no issue nabbing the No. 3 receiver role. He’s expected to line up on the outside, across from Davis."

While it looked like Tajae Sharpe would make a strong play for that WR2 job, the fact that he didn’t get any targets in the first preseason game is telling.

I still think Sharpe has done a lot to improve his stock and has earned his spot as the WR4 on this team, but from here on out I consider it a 50/50 chance that A.J. Brown will start in Week 1.

With Brown getting some walkthrough reps with the 1s, the Titans coaching staff certainly hasn’t ruled him out as a potential starter so this may become one of the most interesting position battles to watch through the rest of camp.
