1. Johnathan Cyprien, S

Albeit a bittersweet moment, I’m happy to see former Tennessee Titans safety Johnathan Cyprien find a new home in Philadelphia.

He inked a one-year deal with the Eagles on August 2nd, but currently finds himself buried on the depth chart. He likely won’t be pushing Eagles safeties Malcolm Jenkins or Rodney McLeod for their jobs in 2019, as Cyp doesn’t fit the scheme in Philadelphia.

He has lined up as a box safety for most of his career; but it is preseason, and competition can only make a team better. I hope he finds a spot on the roster in Philly.

2. Nathan Gerry, ILB

I spoke with Inside The Iggles expert Geoffrey Knox earlier to get the “behind enemy lines” scoop.

“Is Nathan Gerry ready to step up at LB?” he asked, to which I thought, “who?”

Everyone else he mentioned, I knew, so I decided to look further. Gerry is a third-year player out of the University of Nebraska, and according to NFL.com, is “chiseled from granite.”

Will he win the job solely based on opportunity and familiarity with the team? We’ll have at least another step in the direction of answering that question after the first week of the preseason.
