Jaguars Jalen Ramsey names Tennessee Titans as ideal playing situation
Could Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey have his eye on playing with the Tennessee Titans when he hits free agency after the 2020 season?
During his interview on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast with left tackle Taylor Lewan and former linebacker Will Compton, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey named the Tennessee Titans as one of his ideal places to play.
Along with playing in Tennessee, Ramsey also named Las Vegas as another destination spot.
This isn’t too surprising considering Ramsey is a Tennessee native, was a Titans fan growing up, and he owns a house in the state also. Still, his admission comes at a time when he’s playing for the Titans’ division rival, and the same rival the Titans have owned in recent years.
Not listed in his ideal places to play was Jacksonville, where he has one more year on his rookie deal after the 2019 season. Ramsey rolled up to training camp in an armored truck this year to show the Jaguars that he wants to be paid.
Here’s how the exchange went that led to Ramsey naming Tennessee as one of his ideal places to play.
Compton: “Your ideal playing spot, your ideal playing situation, would it be here?”
Ramsey: “It’ll probably be either here (Tennessee) or Vegas.”
Ramsey notes that no state income tax in Nevada is one of the reasons he’d like to play there, which is a quality that the state of Tennessee has, also.
If the Titans do have a mutual interest in Ramsey, they’ll have to wait another season to make a move. Ramsey will be in the fifth year of his rookie contract in 2020 and could very well get an extension before that time comes.
Should that not happen, Ramsey has the potential for a homecoming in Nashville if the Titans want to bring him in. Of course, the money will have to work out in that situation, but Ramsey is already close to a number of players on the team.
Some other interesting notes from the Ramsey interview:
-Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was his grandma’s favorite player before Ramsey got into the league.
-Ramsey says he was more “grimy” as a trash talker in college. Among his past approaches, he used to look up opposing wide receivers’ girlfriends on their Instagram page and talk trash about them.
-Ramsey, along with other defenders, hate having to play against Titans running back Derrick Henry.
There was a lot more to unpack from this interview, and I strongly suggest you listen to it from beginning to end. Not only is it informative, but you’ll have more than one laugh.
